Center for New School Leaders
School leadership is essential to high performing schools. It is the mission of the Center for New School Leaders @ AWSA to provide the support necessary for early career principals and associate principals to succeed. The CNSL does this by providing:
- Opportunities to work with a trained mentor/coach (transition)
- A framework for ensuring a successful school year
- Examples of best practices that address the major responsibilities of school leaders
- Providing resources to assist with on the job questions, concerns, and experiences
- Comprehensive support for new administrators’ licensure needs (online professional development plans, professional development team assistance, ongoing training and orientation, coaching, and more)
The Center for New School Leaders @ AWSA works closely with the New Teacher Project-Wisconsin. Participants of the New Building Administrators Conference Series are encouraged to attend a two-day Improving Student Achievement through Teacher Observation and Feedback training co-sponsored by AWSA and the New Teacher Project-Wisconsin at a significant discount. The program teaches participants to observe teaching and learning through the lens of standards and student achievement, while offering administrators strategies and tools for coaching teachers in ways that bring results.
