Have a question about one or more of the events you see below? Contact AWSA at 608-241-0300. Full refunds of fees will be made on cancellations received two weeks before the event begins. Following that date, 40% administrative fee will be retained. There will be no refunds for no-shows or cancellations made during or after the event.

Building Effective Leadership Academy

The BEL Academy is designed to support principals and associate principals through a similar cohort approach three times during the school year for relevant, ongoing learning specifically designed for leaders serving in years 2-5 who want an integrated, cohort approach to leadership development rather than a deep dive into a specific area of the work that is typically provided by one of our existing AWSA Academies.

Impactful Coaching Academy

The educator effectiveness model provides growth opportunities for teachers, principals and other valued staff in our school districts today. This model requires principals to be highly effective coaches. Whether your school has instructional coaches or you’re trying to build teacher leadership capacity, all staff desire and deserve coaching and feedback aligned to high expectations, standards, and research-based effective instructional practices. In this professional learning opportunity, participants will further develop the capacity to provide coaching and feedback that is aligned to high expectations, standards, and research-based effective instructional practices.

Impactful Coaching Academy: Advancing Your Skills

Two Day Offering 

Educators and school leaders have many conversations in a day. These conversations, often focused on teaching and learning, can have a significant impact on improvement efforts in a school as it relates to student achievement and engagement. Conversations that foster a positive educational environment and support the diverse cultural and learning needs of students and classroom problems of practice is the focus of thistwo day offering. This “refresher” will assist educators and school leaders in increasing already developing skills by engaging in coaching simulations that use targeted questioning and conversation strategies. This offering is for any educator and school or district leader who has already participated in the four day Impactful Coaching Academy.

Supporting Principal Excellence: Professional Growth Coaching for Leaders Academy

Multiple Days 

School administrators need skillful support from leaders of teaching and learning; leaders who believe in coaching as a vehicle for developing exemplary leadership. The Professional Growth Coaching for Leaders Academy, presented by WASDA and AWSA, will equip superintendents, central office leaders and others who directly support principals with the tools and practices that enhance principal performance in leading schools of equity and excellence for student success.

Self-Care Webinar Series

While serving others can be incredibly rewarding, it also can take its toll, especially this year.  So how are you caring for yourself?  How are you finding support for your ongoing role in the road ahead? Your AWSA Community is here to help. Based on positive feedback from participants of our initial back-to-school Self-Care sessions in recent weeks, AWSA will be offering a 45-60 minute monthly Self-Care session for the remainder of the school year at no cost.

Mental Health and Resilience Webinar Series

For years, our members have repeatedly told us that learning how to meet the increasing mental health needs of students, staff, and community is a -- if not the -- key leadership priority.  And the unique challenges of this year’s reopening has only elevated the need.  To this end, AWSA is working in partnership with DPI to offer this series of workshops, which are designed to grow the capacity of school leaders to build resilience and mental health supports in the communities where they live and serve.  Each webinar in the series is provided at no cost and will be recorded.

2021 Aspiring Administrator Workshops

Do you know someone who would make a good principal?  Have you thought about it yourself?  The Aspiring Administrator Workshop is for outstanding educators whom we hope to attract to school administration. The Workshops primary purpose is to connect teachers, whose career goals include seeking administrative positions, to currently practicing administrators through publications, in-service programs, attendance at WFEA-sponsored programs, AWSA meetings, etc.
